F Is For Flamingo #WhatTheFlamboyance

Flamingo by Stephen Cheetham

Ever since I picked up this Kate Spade iPhone case I’ve had Flamingos on the brain. I love that case so much, I put off upgrading my phone for a really long time.  It’s a bummer because now I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which I love, but I don’t have a cute case for.  Since I can’t show my Flamingo pride via, my phone I’ve found a few other amazing items that feature my new spirit animal.

For those of you looking for something to talk about at your next cocktail party, here are five fun facts of Flamingos from About.Com

Where Does The Word Come From

The word "flamingo" comes from the Spanish and Latin word "flamenco" which means fire, and refers to the bright color of the birds' feathers.

Where Do They Get That Gorgeous Color From

Flamingo chicks are born gray or white and take up to three years to reach their mature pink, orange or red plumage. The pink, orange or red color of a flamingo's feathers is caused by carotenoid pigments in their food, and a flamingo's diet includes shrimp, plankton, algae and crustaceans.

Just How Big Are These Birds

The greater flamingo is the largest flamingo species and can measure up to five feet tall, but only weighs a maximum of eight pounds. The lesser flamingo is the smallest and can reach three feet tall. A adult flamingo's legs can be 30-50 inches long, which is longer than their entire body.

Flamingos are gregarious birds that do not do well in very small flocks. While a typical flock is only several dozen birds, flocks of up to a million or more have been recorded. A flock of flamingos is called a stand or a flamboyance.

When Did They Start Appearing On Lawns

Don Featherstone of Massachusetts is the inventor of the pink plastic lawn flamingo, which has been gracing lawns since 1957.

My Beige Blair Ritchey Wallet contains my gift cards, Sephora beauty insider card, my daughters’ school pictures, an extra pen, a Peet’s Coffee card (ahhhh!), a nail file and a handy wipe...just in case.

Kate Spade Business Card Case  with my Carde Blanche business cards (and my insurance cards...gotta keep ‘em safe)

Tic Tacs replacing my usual supply of mint gum...because I have a temporary crown for 2 weeks and gum is sure to yank it out.

L’Occitane hand cream...non-scented.  It’s the best and I can’t stand perfumy products

My Ray Ban Aviators cuz mama needs to protect those blue eyes.

Poppin’ Monogrammed Note Pad  I’m always jotting down lists, ideas, sketches, basketball stats (at weekend tournaments), etc.  Never leave home without paper and pen.

Cell Phone  new case in Emerald Green because it’s the Pantone color of the year and matches my Mini Lulu!

Pen  A fun Cross pen I found in my travels.

Add a Little Sparkle To Your Spring

Sponsor Spotlight.jpeg

My backyard is filled with diamonds. In the morning it looks like diamonds have fallen from the sky when the sun perfectly hits the morning dew.  After a good spring rain when all the plants are heavy little drops of water sparkle as they fall.  As if that wasn’t enough the intricate little spider webs trap water and glimmer all afternoon long.  Not wanting to be outdone by my backyard, I’ve decided to add a little twinkle and sparkle to my Spring.

While champagne, sequins and glitter are great ways to add a little sparkle, I’m leaning more towards a diamond bracelet from Anjolee Diamonds.  One of things that makes shopping at Anjolee so great is, the fact that every item can be customized.  Make each design your own by choosing from different size total diamond weight. You can also select the diamond quality of your choice and the metal type of gold or shiny platinum.

Diamond & Carat

Everybody is on a budget, and diamond quality along with carat weight are the perfect place to stay on budget or to blow the budget.  Most items come in 10 to 15 different carat weights and 6 diamond qualities.

Length & Metal

If you’ve got slightly fat wrists like me, or find that the standard 16 inch necklace just hits you in the wrong spot, just tweak the length of the item.  The option to tweak the diamond tennis necklace also makes it really easy to work the layered look. If you suffer from the dreaded Gold allergy, you can order your items in Platinum.

For more on Anjolee and all of the products you've seen here, head on over to their website, follow them on twitter and be sure to like them on Facebook.  For those of you glued to your iPhone and iPad there is an app for that.  You can create the perfect stud earrings while pretending to listen in the afternoon meeting, and with free shipping (insured overnight delivery), no sales tax, and free gift packaging, you can justify that bump in carat weight.

Spring Clean Your Closet #Organized

Organized- Spring Clean your Closet By Lindsey McElroy.jpg

Rising temperatures, blossoming blooms, and sunny skies are sure signs that Spring has sprung. With the arrival of warmer weather comes the anticipated debut of shorter hemlines, frilly tanks and sexy sandals and for many of us that means a complete closet overhaul.

I am a minimalist at heart, my downtown Boston studio apartment thanks me daily for that. Any chance I have to sort through and organize my belongings is a tiny dream come true.I find myself repeating the phrase "out with the old, in with the new" far too often. Spring is my perfect excuse to clean out my closets and dressers and donate any unnecessary items that I have accumulated over the winter months. I challenge you to do the same.

With the right mindset and storage solutions you will be on your way to a less cluttered, frustration free lifestyle. Give yourself a full day to sort, launder, trash, and donate the contents of every nook and cranny of your closet and dresser drawers. No belt is looked over, and no broken heeled shoe left behind. I stick with the "Season" rule; If I am on the fence for instance about a sweater and realize I didn't wear it once through the fall and  winter months it's headed straight for the donation box. This simple rule will amaze you and give you a clear understanding of just how many items you are holding onto for absolutely no reason.

After you have sifted through each piece it is time to hop in your car for a well deserved shopping trip. The assistance of four key items will have your closet looking like a page out of Home & Garden magazine.

WIth your shopping trip complete, you can guarantee to feel re-energized and ready to go. Take the remainder of the night off, a fresh start will do both you and your closet good. Begin the next day by unwrapping your newly purchased organizational products and let the put back process begin. You will begin to se results immediately, and the finished product will take your breath away.

Is this something you will be doing this spring?
